What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a painful and progressive condition where tissue like the inner lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus.

This tissue can attach to the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other areas in the pelvis, continuing to behave like uterine tissue by bleeding during menstrual cycles.

Since this blood has no way to exit the body, it accumulates in the abdominal cavity, causing inflammation.

Over time, this leads to scar tissue and adhesions, which can block fallopian tubes or disrupt ovulation, often resulting in infertility.

Symptoms of Endometriosis

  1. Pelvic pain and lower back pain.
  2. Dysmenorrhea: Severe menstrual cramps and pain during menses.
  3. Menstrual irregularities: Heavy, prolonged, or clotted periods.
  4. Infertility: Difficulty in conceiving.
  5. Fatigue and persistent tiredness.
  6. Increased risk of ovarian cancer in some cases.
