Friends, today we will talk about how alopecia areata can be treated successfully with homeopathy. In the end I will tell some home remedies which help in treatingalopecia areata.
What is Alopecia Areata
Alopecia areata is also known as AA or patchy hair loss. In this there is sudden hair loss and development of bald patches. Alopecia areata can happen on scalp, face and actually anywhere on the skin.
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder; in this body’s own immune system attacks hair follicles and destroys them.
I have seen in my medical practice, which I have been doing since 1997, that severe mental tension aggravates alopecia areata.
Allopathic Treatment
Before we discuss about homeopathic treatment let us talk about allopathic treatment of alopecia areata.
Today market is full of products which claim to cure alopecia areata; for example, various OTC medicines, shampoos, hair oils, lotions and so on; but most of these products do not work longterm and actually causes side effects.
In allopathy minoxidil, hormone therapy and steroids are used which relieves temporarily; but on leaving these medicines hair fall actually becomes worse than before.
Apart from this there are serious side effects for example skin irritation, unwanted hair growth on other parts, palpitation, weight gain, scarring of skin, metabolic abnormalities, acne, menstrual problems and so on.
Homeopathic Treatment
According to my clinical experience there is amazing treatment for alopecia areata in homeopathy.Homeopathy is safe, sure and systematic.
Homeopathy basically works on the root cause of alopecia areata. Our medicines correct the disturbance of the immune system thus stopping the damage to hair follicles completely and gradually bald patches start recovering with new hair growth visible.
According to my experience it takes usually 2 to 3 months for the improvement to start and for complete cure it may take 6 months to one year.
I have seen that patent homeopathic medicines do not work in alopecia areata and good results areonly seen from classical constitutional homeopathic treatment.
Number of Medicines
There are around 176 medicines in homeopathy for alopecia areata which are very effective.
Now which of these medicines are to be given, in how much potency, how many times in a day – this is a complicated process which only a highly qualified and experienced doctor can do.
A sensible doctor never prescribes on the name of the disease ‘alopecia areata’. He takes complete history of the patient, then studies his symptoms properly.
After that he selects the medicines keeping in mind the susceptibility of the patient and decides upon the potency and repetition of medicines.
My Approach to Treatment
In alopecia areata I prescribe for one month and then I review the patient after that. Every month the case is studied again thereby fine tuning the medicines and their potencies.
Nothing is fixed in homeopathic treatment and remedies change according to the condition of the patient. As I always say, “homeopathy is not readymade, it is tailormade” and the treatment constantly changes according to the situation of the patient.
How much improvement you get in alopecia areata depends upon your choice of doctor. These days KYC is done in banks and mutual funds; I think patients should also do KYD – Know your doctor.
Name of Medicines?
Friends I have not named any medicines, nor I have promoted medicines of any company; because by doing so I will be playing with your health and may harm you. A sane doctor will never do this.
Home Remedies
- Avoid daily use of shampoos and conditioners because they make the scalp dry and damage the hairs. It is sufficient to shampoo thrice a week. As shampoos are concentrated you may dilute them before applying.
- Brush the hair gently and properly. This helps in distributing the natural hair oil.
- You should do yoga as this relaxes body, reduces mental stress thus helping natural hair growth.
- I think I do not need to tell that a balanced diet with fruits and vegetables is important.
- Try to avoid hot curlers, hair dryer, hair straightener, bleaching, coloring and so on. Why put stress on your hair in pursuit of beauty.
